The Actors
Sasha Paul trained at The Birmingham School of Speech and Drama.
Her TELEVISION credits include;- a leading role in several episodes of ‘Peak Practice’, ‘Casualty’, ‘Dangerfield’, ‘Boon’, ‘Howard’s Way’ and ‘The Inspector Alleyn Mysteries’. Her FILM work includes;‘A Foot in the Door’, ‘Lighthouse’ and ‘Extracts from my Diary’. She finished filming ‘Liars Dice’, in London last summer. She has also worked extensively at The National Film School & Bournemouth Arts Institution. Her THEATRE credits include:- Shelby in ‘Steel Magnolias’, Viola in ‘Twelfth Night’, Helena in ‘A Midsummer Nights Dream’, Sylv in ‘East’, Julia in ‘Dead Guilty’, Dick in ‘Dick Whittington’, Agnes in ‘Agnes of God’, Emma in ‘Emma’s Story’, Poppy in a UK Tour of ‘Noises Off’ and Farrah in ‘Popcorn’ at The Lighthouse Theatre, Poole.
Sasha has performed in numerous Radio plays, and review shows, such as ‘Newsrevue’ in London and at the Edinburgh Festival. As a writer she has written for both TV and Theatre. She has trained in British Sign Language and also runs Writing, Drama and Confidence Building workshops for teenagers and adults, through her own company ‘Dramatic Productions’.
Sasha has two children, Oliver 10 and Jessica 6.
Julia is a professional actress, singer and voice-over artist. She has worked extensively for many years in theatre, television and film in the UK and Australia where she was recently in a kids TV series, Streetsmartz, filmed in Fremantle, Perth.
She has performed in countless theatre productions, most recently in Dramatic Productions Christmas show, Stocking fillers. Last year, she played an awesome Wicked Queen in panto at the Pier Theatre in Bournemouth! She has also performed at the Lighthouse with Bourne Rep in Lie of the Mind. Her TV appearances include Casualty, Robin Hood, 999, The Missing Postman, Nurses Do and Streetsmartz.
Julia was also a member of the very successful Wimborne based company, Theatre West, playing lead roles in various Ayckbourn plays. For 2 years she co-produced and performed with Judy Norman a two-hander which toured in Dorset, Somerset, London and the Edinburgh Festival.
She is delighted to be the Producer/Actress of Dramatic Productions based at the Lighthouse and is greatly looking forward to more great productions to come throughout next year.
Judy is a character actress with numerous TV and theatre credits. She has worked in the business for 35 years. Repertory companies include Manchester Royal Exchange, Plymouth, Newcastle, Derby, Theatre Clwyd and Salisbury Playhouse. TV appearances include DOCTOR WHO (BBC), HOLBY CITY (BBC), PASSER BY (BBC), WITHOUT MOTIVE (Meridian), CASUALTY (BBC) and WYCLIFFE (HTV).
Very recently Judy has been seen as prison officer, Imogen Hart,in the BBC series CRIMINAL JUSTICE (with Pete Postlethwaite and Ben Whishaw). Both she James (George in Of Mice and Men) are soon to be seen in the feature film TREACLE JUNIOR. She appeared last Xmas in STOCKING FILLERS, here at The Lighthouse Studio.
Judy has previously written and directed two pantomimes and directed BLOOD BROTHERS and BLUE REMEMBERED HILLS in Guys Marsh Prison, Shaftesbury.
Judy also teaches French. Her ’significant other’ is playwright Sam Snape, with whom she shares two daughters, Daisy and Tallulah. She has recently become a ‘Nana’ to baby Jack.
Spencer has been working professionally as a performer for two years having completed his training at the local Arts Institute at Bournemouth. These two years have involved hard work, good fortune, and fantastic experiences; most notably of course this most recent role of George in Of Mice and Men.
His main reason for pursuing this career is his all-consuming thirst to learn about the characters in our wide diverse world. Rehearsing this role has certainly allowed him the opportunity for this, it has been a fascinating journey.
Denzil Keim: a locally based actor that studied right here in Bournemouth. TELEVISION he has worked for the National Geographic and Channel Five as the notorious pirate Black Sam Bellamy, also performing along side Kevin Spacey and Thandie Newton in Switzerland for the IWC. THEATRE. He has played John Proctor in the Crucible, Mercutio in Romeo and Juliet, Jeremy in 8ft leap, the Doctor in Little Shop of Horrors, Harry in a Little Bit of Luck (an 8 month gruelling tour of Spain). FILM this has been so far shorts for Bournemouth Southampton and Farnham film schools plus a training video for the Dorset police.
David Clements Studied drama & singing at Stagewise school for the performing arts. Glenn began performing at the age of 23. He then went on to study dance at the Laban Centre in London. Since then he has had various TV and theatre credits to his name. He has also worked for Billy Smart’s Circus.
TV credits include WHATEVER YOU WANT, THE GIRLY SHOW, and THE CHATTERING OF ANGELS – a film made for Channel 4.
Theatre credits include various pantomimes for Michael Rose Ltd. Plus M & M Productions on tour, as the lead in ALADDIN. He has also performed in the West End on several occasions in the hit musical Les Mis Master Classes. He has worked as a choreographer and dance captain for many local theatre companies. His last theatrical role was playing the lead in ME AND MY GIRL. He recently starred in Lee Redwood’s panto of SNOW WHITE AND THE SEVEN DWARFS as Muddles, playing alongside with Julia Savill, at the Pier Theatre, Bournemouth.
Ross was born in Dorset, and can count up to twenty-four if he takes his shoes and socks off. His hobbies are being cynical, disliking people and collecting useless qualifications – he is currently studying for a part-time degree in archaeology. After working for a number of years in the music industry he made his acting debut as Roderigo in Othello in the mid 90’s, and then went on to appear in productions of The Merchant of Venice, Teechers, Rufus Conquered and Macbeth. His own production company specializes in corporate training and events and has been responsible for productions of a Man for All Seasons, Little Shop of Horrors, and Tom Jones, which was adapted by Ross from the novel by Henry Fielding. Other writing credits include Paris Mon Amour that was commissioned by Pavilion Theatre productions for a UK tour. Ross has just completed his first novel and now plans to go on to read other books. He has not taken anything seriously since 1987 and promises his mother that one day he’ll get a proper job.

Sean is a local actor from Poole, who has studied acting at Bournemouth University and the Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama. Sean joined Dramatic Productions in August 2009 and has since performed in our opening residency performance at the Lighthouse by taking the lead role in our production of John Godber’s ‘Teechers. He also performed in the Christmas spectacular ‘Stockfillers’. In 2010, Sean has been working with local film company White Lantern films starring in their latest music video ‘Don’t you ever’ by Jazz Morley as well as their frist feature ‘Emulsion’ that is in production Spring 2010. Sean’s current body of work also includes recording the first series of web based comedy sketch show ‘The Unprofessionals’.
Omar is also a Presenter and Comedian. Originally from Peckham in London, he now lives in Bournemouth. He is one half of an entertainment company called ‘Little Orphan Boy’ who specialise in variety style shows. Omar presents and also writes and performs comedy sketches in the shows. His Theatre background includes Royal Gala performances, a Shakespearian performance where he played King Duncan and Mcduff in Macbeth, and the lead role of Judas in Jesus Christ Superstar. He has also written and directed plays. Musically his success involves being part of a hip hop group in a promotional video for channel 4, performances at Capital Radio, BBC Radio 1 and also at British and French music Festivals where in addition to being on stage assisted in coordinating the production.
This is Ginny’s first appearance on stage, and she didn’t even have to audition! She seemed the obvious choice for this role, given her gentle, sweet and docile nature.
Originally from Ireland, she had a fairly tough start in life, homeless, abandoned, and found tied to a fence. Luckily she was saved by a rescue centre, who sent her over to England, when she had to endure 17 hour journey in the back of a van. Ginny was then found her forever home in Wimborne, with a family who love her more than life itself! Her new owners are Julia Savill (our Producer), Howard and Bernie Stringer. She now leads the life o’ Riley, with lots of friends and wonderful walkies. She’s a very happy girl!
Since leaving South Africa where he completed his drama degree, Mark Freestone has performed in numerous stage and television productions and has worked as a consultant with a number of prestigious business clients. Television: Featured roles in 999 (BBC), Torchwood (BBC), and True Heroes (The Discovery Channel). Film: Richard III (SI Productions), First Love (Universal Pictures) and Where Broken Horses Lie (RS Films). Theatre: Hamlet (in two separate productions), Lysander (Open Hand Productions), Creon in Sophocle’s ‘Antigone (Hexagon), Iago (The Oxford Shakespeare Festival), Malcolm in Macbeth (Open Hand Productions), Jesus in Jesus Christ Superstar, RP McMurphy in One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest, Lancelot in Camelot, Barnum in Barnum, Septimus Hodge in Stoppard’s Arcadia, Pirelli in Sondheim’s Sweeney Todd, Flash in the Edinburgh Festival tour of Cheek (rock musical), Robert in Betrayal by Harold Pinter (Bourne Rep). Other: Mark has worked as a consultant with the Innovate company, working with clients such as Shell, BP, Lasmo, Wembley plc, and Agip. He has even held workshops on topics as diverse as Shakespeare and Wine!
He has also spoken at conferences in Geneva and Amsterdam on innovation and creativity in the workplace.
Leigh Graduated from Mountview Theatre School. He has performed in a wide range of theatre and television. His credits range from plays such as A Midsummer Nights Dream, MacBeth, William & Cathrine, Look Back In Anger and a few local productions such as The Lost Quay. His film and T.V. Credit Include Keen Eddie, Incomplete, The Bill, Casualty and CrimeWatch Solved along with a number of commercial credits. Leigh has worked with Sasha on three occasions now, firstly in a production of Harold Pinter’s Betrayal then in ‘The Blue Room’. He provided the voice of Jonathan Westwood for Sasha’s own original work ‘Someone Else’s Husband’.

Wendy was formally a Social worker with Deaf and Deaf/Blind people before working as a freelance Sign Language Interpreter. For the past 18yrs she has specialised in TV, Theatre and Opera interpreting.
For Opera she currently works in the UK’s International Opera Houses; Royal Opera House and English National Opera, both based in London. Wendy was the first Sign Language Interpreter employed by Channel 4 and GMTV for their early morning news programmes. In 1999 she won an award for ‘Outstanding Contribution to Small Theatre’ and in 2001 was honoured with an MBE for services to ‘Music and the Arts’. Wendy has worked on set for Film, TV and the Movies, including ‘Four Weddings and a Funeral’.
She lives in Poole with her husband and young son.
Matthew went to the Mary Hare Grammar School; 1987 – 1993.
When he was young, Matthew did his first television appearance in ‘Howard’s Way’. Since leaving school he has also done some extra work. He gained much of his acting experience through ‘Text, Batteries & Earwax’, a BDA Award program by Jonathan & Michael Reid. This has been a huge success and he has returned with his character, ‘Lenny’ for a spin-off called ‘The Association’.
He has done a presenting job for Open I: Inland Revenue; Disabled Person Tax Credit Online.
He has also performed in a pantomime for the DDCS (Dorset Deaf Children’s Society) at his local deaf club. He learnt a lot doing a Shape Theatre course between 8th to 21st August 2005. He is playing ‘Ian’ in Raymond Luzcak’s script ‘In Love and Lust We Trust’.
On a number of occasions, Matthew has worked, for BBC Television’s ‘See Hear’. His work includes: ‘Doctor Memnos and Odd Bob’. A Deaf comedy which started on 25th March, and The contributor for ‘Usher’s Way of Life’.
Last Christmas, Matthew did a Christmas play called ‘A See Hear Christmas Carol’, where he played ‘Robbie Cratchit’.

Doug trained at Virginia Tech University (B.A. in Theatre Arts) and the Pennsylvania State University (M.F.A in Acting).He has worked extensively in the U.S.A. and U.K. as an actor in theatre, film, television, corporate video, radio and voice-overs.
Television and film credits include: Band of Brothers, Second Coming, Murphy’s Law, The Tailor of Panama, Reign of Fire, Digital and London Voodoo. Commercial credits include U.S. national spots for Cheerios and Sprite.
Theatre credits include: Burn This Larry, The Glass Menagerie Gentleman caller, High Society Dexter Haven, Guys and Dolls Sky Masterson, Macbeth Macbeth, Much Ado About Nothing Benedick, The Mousetrap Detective Trotter, A Soldiers Play Captain Taylor, Speed the Plow Gould, Othello Cassio, Fool For Love Eddie, A Lie of the Mind Mike and many more.
Doug currently teaches and is course leader at The Arts Institute at Bournemouth on the B.A.(Hons) Acting for Theatre, Film and Television course while maintaining a professional acting career.
Rosie is currently going into her final year at The Arts University College, Bournemouth. This will be the second time she has played ‘Gail’ in ‘Teechers’. She was in ‘Cinderella’, at the Trinity Theatre, Tunbridge Wells. Other theatre work includes General Haig in ‘Oh What a Lovely War’, Daisy in ‘Daisy Pulls it Off’, May Daniels in ‘Once in a Lifetime’ and Lieutenant in ‘Accidental Death of An Anarchist’. Rosie has been in several short films and is currently working on a ‘Live Drama’ project of Doctor Who, playing the part of Rose Tyler. Rosie has also assisted some Drama Teaching performance workshops with Sasha Paul and Tara Dominick.
Katie has been acting since she was seven years old! She has been a member of Wessex Youth Theatre for many years. She now assists in teaching drama for children’s classes. Two years ago Katie was given a place by the National Youth Theatre. Theatre credits include, Oliver, Shakers (also by Godber), A Midsummer’s Nights Dream and The Gut Girls. She is a talented musician (clarinet) and singer (choir & soloist). For two years she was ‘Alice’ at Alice in Wonderland family park. Next year she will be going to Birmingham University to study drama.
